The Best Argument for Christianity

 I enjoy philosophical debate, so I've spent a lot of time listening to and thinking about arguments for and against Christianity. I've considered questions about metaphysics, and science, and history, and ethics. Some of those arguments (on both sides) are embarrassingly awful, others provoke serious thought. I remain an atheist because none of the pro-Christianity arguments have yet persuaded me, but some are definitely better than others. So what is the best argument for Christianity, in my opinion?

The best argument for Christianity is Mister Rogers. I did some research about the life and work of Fred Rogers for my book, and I was continually impressed by his dedication to improving the world, and by how he saw his work as a ministry, since he was ordained in the Presbyterian church. Thinking about Mister Rogers gives me that feeling of "I want to be part of this" more than any threat of hellfire or calculation of fine-tuning ever has. And Mister Rogers is not alone -- I know (or know of) lots of people whose living example of drawing on their Christian faith to make the world better inspires me.

But there's a catch.

I know a number of people whose work to make the world better is rooted in their Jewish faith, and who inspire me to want to join them and be like them. So the best argument for Christianity is also the best argument for Judaism. And it's the best argument for neopaganism. And the best argument for Buddhism. And Taoism. And Islam. And Hinduism. And yes, the best argument for Christianity is also the best argument for humanism and atheism.
